A guy came up to me recently in a workshop I held in Fort Lauderdale and told me he'd been to another well-known options seminar that I can't mention by name (but I'm sure you've heard of it) where they told him about a “locked trade” opportunity – meaning there was no way he could lose money. I immediately pointed out that they had not accounted for the “pin risk” and another rare, but important element during a takeover.

The guy called me a week later and told me he lost $47,000 on the trade.

And here's another example…

One of my students called just to thank me a few weeks ago. He was glowing after making a great profit during the recent market downturn after I had him in puts and put spreads. He told me his buddies – who were mentoring under another well-known options educator – still had them in long positions.

His buddies were down $40,000 and $18,000 respectively!

Are you starting to see why I'm so upset?

You see, lots of options educators can fill you in on the “surface level”, A-B-C options theory dogma. But that doesn't even come close to preparing you to actually trade options in the real world. Seasoned options trading professionals eat those guys for lunch!

I know, because I used to be one of them.

The first class makes me very optimistic that I have made a good decision to sign up for this 8 week course!

Ron is an excellent presenter, takes all live questions and answers them competently and yet does not loose his focus of what his teaching schedule is.

He started with the basics. For me that was already pretty advanced. I like his ability to explain the key points of really complicated models (options-pricing) without expecting his class to consist of mathematical geniuses.

I learned today that hedging with options is better than diversification.

Stock replacement strategy can give me 75% of the profits of the same position with stocks but at costs of only 25% of the price the stocks would cost.

I learned about six pricing models for options and their weaknesses and strengths. I only knew Black Scholes and that is was wrong and how you could have profited from that in the past out of Jack Schwaeger´s book Market Wizards.

I learned about Volatility Skewness & Kutosis, and about the Volatility smile which I will check this night when the markets open again.

Well that is excellent for a start - keep up this good work and the inspiring motivation!

"My Spreads Have Been 80% Profitable With Only Small Losers, and Some Have Been Enormous Winners Within a Short Period of Time"

Ron Ianeri's brilliant approach to premium collection in option trading has revolutionized my spread trading.

I taught myself options three years ago, reading every book available and was quite successful. Then I took numerous classes with a nationally known organization that promotes trading out-of-the-money options and spreads and watched my profitability diminish. After studying with Ron and gleaning from his vast knowledge and experience as well as his tremendous ability to teach, my spreads have been 80% profitable with only small losers, and some have been enormous winners within a short period of time.

As an example of just one of Ron's strategies that is aimed at collecting premium in a fully hedged approach, I bought a JAN 70/75 AAPL call spread on Dec. 22 with the stock at $74. Because I structured it as Ron teaches, my net debit was only $2.75 for a position that intrinsically was already worth $4 and would be worth the full $5 with only a $1 rise in the stock price in a month.

But AAPL didn't sit still and on January 10 with the stock at $80 I again captured the big premium by selling the 70/75 and buying the 75/80. I did this for $1 credit, lowering my cost basis to $1.75 on a spread now with $5 intrinsic value. But two days later with a run up to $85 and even more premium waiting to be captured, I once again rolled it up, now to 80/85 and for an even bigger credit of $1.15. By repeatedly applying this one technique that Ron so clearly presented, I now own this $5 in-the-money spread for a net cost of 65 cents.

With AAPL at 85.60 today and expiration in 3 days, it could even pull back a little and still provide a 669% profit!

And the most incredible thing? With Ron's approach, the position has always been fully hedged and required no margin, and never had more than a minimal loss possibility. Even if AAPL had gone down after putting on the first leg of this play, because of properly structuring it as Ron coached, the position could still have been profitable or at worst result in only a small loss.

I have also applied this same technique to RMBS and BZH in the last couple of weeks with similar results. However, this approach to premium collection is but one of the many aspects and strategies involved in options trading that Ron Ianieri teaches in this amazingly comprehensive class.

The Options Mastery class has paid for itself many times over already. Ron Ianieri truly knows options and how to teach them in a clear and illuminating way; and with the easy access to him that he provides, he makes sure his students fully learn the material...

I really enjoyed the presentation last night and, again, thank you for inviting me. I was very impressed to see someone teaching the "pros and cons" of options and strategies rather than just showing the positive sides. It's rare that you see that anymore. I think the material was good and Ron seemed to go at a slow enough pace to keep everyone involved and allow questions along the way. So I thought the class, material, and format was very good.

As for the presentation style, it carried an intense and serious tone. While that's not my preference for teaching options, it worked well for Ron and that's what is important. There are so many presentation styles that it's hard to say what is "best" and "what works." But that style works well for Ron and I thought he did a beautiful job at getting the points across. So I'm not too picky on presentation style as much as I am on content and ability to communicate ideas to students. I think he made objective points clear with lots of examples and that's really what I was looking for.

...I will not be able to make tonight's presentation and may be away this weekend (Are they taught on weekends?). But I would certainly like to attend some the following week!!

We met briefly at the Money Show in Las Vegas in May, just before a TradeKing presentation.

I have listened to your Mastery Series live recording CDs about 4 times in the last 5-6 months. I really liked the material and have signed up for Strategy Spotlight.

I like your course because it

a) has excellent introduction with the Greeks

b) has clear explanation of synthetics using conversion/reversal

c) has clear explanation of how and when to use each strategy

d) has clear explanation of using box secrets in vertical spreads

e) is excellent bang for the buck

f) finally gave me the confidence to enter the market (I can now look at a chart and trade a strategy instead of searching for a stock to apply bull call spread. My first trade was a time spread, never traded stocks before. BTW I broke even on the time spread but morphed it into a bear call spread which is doing ok so far.)

I was a student of Option[xxx] and I don't like them because

a) they charge too much for just teaching bull call spread and time spread without even mentioning Greeks (although they say the new classes will include Greeks)

b) they keep students out of advanced discussion forums unless the students have paid for more training

c) they keep pushing expensive software (it's as if everyone has to start with bull call spreads and Elliott Waves) and classes at their 2-day seminars

I do like Option[xxx] Platinum, but brokers like Think or Swim are catching up with those kinds of tools.
